Terms of Service

By participating at Houston Badminton Academy, you agree to comply with the following terms and conditions.

Legal Agreement

Waiver & Release

In consideration of your participation at Houston Badminton Academy and Cypress Badminton Academy LLC, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

You are engaging in physical exercise, including but not limited to use of exercise machines, free weights, center facilities, training, and instruction.

You risk bodily injury from the various activities offered, including paralysis, dismemberment, disability, and death. Specific rules, equipment, and discipline may reduce risk, but risk of injury and property loss exists.

You willingly agree to the stated conditions for participation. If you observe any unusual hazard or feel unprepared for participation, you will immediately notify the nearest official and refrain from participating.

You, on behalf of yourself and your heirs, release and hold harmless Houston Badminton Academy and Cypress Badminton Academy, their officers, staff, sponsors, volunteers, and agents from any and all injury, damage, or loss arising from participation, except in cases of gross negligence or wanton misconduct, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

You agree to be bound by the rules and regulations of Houston Badminton Academy, Cypress Badminton Academy, and USA Badminton, and confirm your eligibility to participate in all activities applied for.

You grant Houston Badminton Academy and Cypress Badminton Academy LLC full photography, television, and motion picture rights to film or record you during matches, interviews, or other activities for commercial, news, or other purposes, without compensation.

Parent(s) or court-appointed legal guardian(s) must sign on behalf of any participating minor (under 18 years of age) and agree that both they and the minor are subject to all terms in this document.

Facility Details

3 courts available.

Cypress Location
7 courts available. Check-in required at the front desk during open play hours. Open play walk-in passes available subject to court availability. Court reservations take priority over open play.

Section 1

General Rules & Guidelines

1.1 Equipment
All players must have a badminton racket. Rental rackets are available if needed.
1.2 Attire
Non-marking athletic shoes and athletic clothing are required. A $250 cleaning fee may be charged for damaging facility property.
1.3 Food & Drinks
No food or open-container drinks are allowed in the court area.
1.4 Punctuality
Be on time for reservations. We reserve the right to charge full price for any unreserved or additional court use.
1.5 Behavior
No swearing or foul language — we have minors in the facility.

Section 2

Court Reservations

2.1 Management
Houston Badminton Academy reserves the right to refuse, modify, or cancel reservations.
2.2 Cancellation
To cancel or amend a reservation, text Farinha at least 24 hours in advance. A credit equal to the reservation amount will be held for future use. Funds are non-transferrable between players, memberships, or other services.
2.3 Payment
Pricing varies; payment is required upfront. Court reservations are limited to 6 players per court per hour.
2.4 Booking
Court Booking: Single court sessions, paid by card on Skedda.com.
Court Blocking: Players must book a minimum of 3 months in bulk.
2.5 Confirmation
After confirming a reservation, check your email for important details such as passcodes.

Section 3

Training Services

3.1 Payment
Required prior to the start of lessons. Additional lessons beyond prepaid are available at the same rate.
3.2 Classes
All classes must be used within a 4-week cycle. Remaining unbooked classes transfer as makeup lessons with a 4-week expiration. An active membership is required to attend; unused makeup lessons are forfeited if not used in time.
3.4 Changes
Houston Badminton Academy reserves the right to modify, combine, or cancel classes for any reasonable cause.
3.5 Assistance
For questions about attendance or training, text Farinha with your name, location (Richmond or Cypress), and your inquiry.

3.3 Schedule Management

🏠 Cypress
Text Farinha with your name, location (Cypress), and inquiry at least 24 hours before class.
🏋 Private Lessons
Coordinate directly with Coach Boyd.

Section 4

Membership Holds & Cancellations

4.1 Hold Policy
Membership may be placed on hold up to 2 times per calendar year, for a maximum of 3 months per hold. Holds are not permitted during the Summer semester (May–August). After a hold ends, membership must remain active for at least one full billing cycle before cancellation. Payments overlapping a hold period will be prorated.

4.2 Cancellation
Written text notice to Farinha required at least 30 days in advance. No cancellations within 30 days of the upcoming billing cycle. Upon approval, membership is canceled on the referred billing date and you will not be charged on that date.

Section 5

Racket Maintenance Services

5.1 Discretion
We reserve the right to refuse service or modify pricing for reasonable cause.
5.2 Pricing
Varies based on string type and payment method (at pick-up or drop-off).
5.3 Liability
HBA is not liable for damages or breakage. Compensation is at the discretion of Houston Badminton Academy.

Sections 6 & 7

Refunds & No-Show Policy

6.1 Refund Policy
Refunds are allowed with 2 days’ notice before the program starts, subject to a 10% service fee. Credit with no fees is granted for requests made prior to the program start date.

7.1 No-Show Policy
No makeup lessons, credit, refunds, or other compensation will be provided for unexcused absences.
